Billy Goodman: NEWS

Memorial Day At Kimocks - May 25, 2009

Memorial Day barbecue at the Kimocks and that's good news because Frau Kimock always throws down a big spread. We'll have a rehearsal for the Germany tour later on tonight. The Twins went home to visit for a few weeks. Their demo sounds great and we're going to start on the next one as soon as they hit American soil.

Philadelphia - May 12, 2009

We blew out of Miami a few weeks ago and are currently in Philadelphia. The Twins and I immediately went in to a recording studio upon arriving. We were very lucky to have Fran Smith of the Hooters and Steve Butler from Smash Palace record us and help us with the production of 4 original songs.
The mixing was completed yesterday and I should have the CD in my hands in a few days. What management does with this demo is not certain yet. It will either end up in the hands of a producer or record label. I'm glad that's not my part of the job. Recording was a blast. The boys are on fire and I played the drums !

Kimock Show - Fort Lauderdale - April 26, 2009

What a great time we had last night.....Steve and I opened the night with a duo set and then the full band came out to play "Barbed Wire" and "Johnny Anonymous" with us. Steve's new lineup is really tight and played beautifully. I jumped onstage later in the night to play slide on "One for Brother Mike" and "Slow Down". It was just a great night all around.

Walking Underwater - April 11, 2009

It gets so humid down here, you feel like you're walking underwater. The Twins (we still haven't decided on a name yet) and I have been working hard writing, arranging, rehearsing and recording. It takes it out of you but we're exploring our possibilities while we have the time. Many good songs have been penned in the last 6 weeks.
I'll be opening for Steve Kimock at a cool venue in Fort Lauderdale on April 25th. I hear they finally have good weather in Germany. Man, that was a long winter.

Big Dave in Miami - March 13, 2009

My buddy Dave Uosikkinen showed up last week to give me a helping hand. Dave plays drums for the Hooters and brought out a beautiful vintage kit of drums from San Diego for me to use. It took a few trips to the drum shop and some last minute fed ex deliveries but the drum set is now complete and i love it. Today we'll be going over to the rehearsal studio and spend some time tuning them up. The Twins (who we're still searching for a name for) are spending their time between writing and practicing new songs and hanging at the beach. Brother Frank has been penning lyrics for the new ones and took off yesterday for a week in Guatemala. Steve Kimock played his first shows with his new lineup last week. I heard it went great. I'll be opening for him down here in Florida next month.

Twins Touch Down - February 25, 2009

Marco and Dario Klein arrived safely today from Frankfurt, Germany. You'll be hearing all about them from me in the months to come. I was lucky enough to find them a management and publishing deal which will give them the time to develop and record their sound here in the states. It's all very exciting because we've worked hard to make it happen and now here it is. Frank and I have completed another song and are hot on the next one. My good buddy Dave Uosikkinen from the Hooters sent a vintage kit of DW drums out to me. The AC and floor are complete in the new studio and we'll begin building the control room very soon. Things are moving along. Now some live shows are probably in order or I'm gonna get too soft.

new year so far ... - February 7, 2009

what a year it's been so far .... we americans are definitely in unchartered waters .... sometimes it pays to be a bluesman who's not used to too many worldly amenities.
we're slowly but surely getting the recording studio together and the twins will arrive from germany on february 25th.... the three goodman bros penned a cool blugrass tune yesterday .... all fodder for the next cd .... im about half way there with the new songs i need.... i won't complain about the cold snap we've had in florida ... that just wouldn't be nice.

Miami 2009 - January 13, 2009

Some of you will have noticed that I quietly exited the German winter and fled to Miami. I know I'm a stinker because as my loved ones are braving the cold, I'm strolling down the beach without a shirt on.
That said, I really do have some good excuses for being here. My brother Jon and Frank are converting a 2500 square foot warehouse located in downtown Miami into a multi-media studio. Plenty of work to be done there and it's a great opportunity for me to grow as a producer. The Twin Experience are flying over from Germany in late February. With my brother Jon managing them, we have high hopes for them in 2009. My brother Frank and I are writing the songs for my next CD which we will coerce Steve Kimock to break out his pedal steel for. He'll get that old thing out from under the bed and get it honking, don't you worry about that. Speaking of Steve, I just got off the phone with him and I'm sure we'll get back to Europe in the spring of 2009 and hopefully with a band this time. Did I mention I survived a deadly earthquake in Costa Rica last week ?

Germany Shows - October 26, 2008

It's good to be back in Germany. Played a fun show last night with my friend Martin Haensel in the beautiful town of Ladenburg. I'm back at it in a few hours in Helmstadt-Bargen.

Steve Kimock and Billy Goodman opening for Little Feat Review - September 29, 2008

More Little Feat News - September 29, 2008

The shows with "Little Feat" just got better and better last week. The band were really cool. friendly, funny, humble and just kicked ass when they hit the stage. It was a real pleasure to open these New York City shows. Steve and I were feeling good and enjoyed just cutting loose on our guitars . We actually got a standing ovation after our final song. Nice.

Little Feat - September 26, 2008

The first show opening for "Little Feat" went great last night. The band stood side stage checking Steve and I out as we were wailing on the "Good Shepherd".

New York Gig - September 22, 2008

The Twins are playing the "Sidewalk Cafe" in the East Village tonight. I couldn't get there because i was preparing with Steve Kimock for the upcoming "Little Feat" shows. The boys are creating a little buzz here in New York City.

Back On The Farm - September 20, 2008

I'm back at the Kimock ranch. Steve is playing some cool melody in the background as I write. The studio in the barn looks great. They tricked out the adjoining room and bouught some great recording equipment. The twins were left on their own in New York City the last few nights.
I'm sure they're enjoying that. When the cat's away, the mice will play.

Thurs. Sept, 12th - September 12, 2008

We've been in New York City a week now. I think the twins are over their initial culture shock and are getting along quite independently. We wrote a good song yesterday thanks to the help of my brother Frank. Yesterday was a sad day in New York as it was the seventh anniversary of 9-11.
There were many firefighters on the street and one could not help but feel a great respect for them.
It's cloudy today so we won't play at Strawberry Fields but maybe we'll bang out another song.

New York City - September 9, 2008

"The Twin Experience" touch down in New York City on their first US trip.....See them playing at the John Lennon Memorial in Central Park.

Sunday Afternoon In Heidelberg - July 13, 2008

Life has been good the last month. I've written a few new songs on my own and several with Marco and Dario Klein better know as "The Twin Experience". I've also rekindled and old passion which is playing the drums. So I'm now the new drummer for the twins and I have to say i really enjoy it. We've been playing on the Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg and have several gigs coming up.

What a Tour ! - June 12, 2008

It's taken me a little time to get back on my feet after doing 10 shows in 11 days with Steve Kimock.
The tour went off without a hitch. Steve played incredible and the audiences were so receptive. It was really a blessing from start to finish. I must give a special thanks to Hajo Lorenz who worked so hard to make it all happen.

Deutschland Baby.... - May 3, 2008

Back in Heidelberg.....Beautiful sunny day. A little jetlagged but feeling grateful. That three weeks in America sure turned in to five and a half months pretty quick. I spent the last week in Miami visiting my brother Jon. Drove down to the Keys, saw some old friends, soaked up some rays. It was darn nice. Now I have to get my ducks in a row for Mr. Kimock's imminent arrival. Oh yeah, baby.

Martin Guitar Factory - April 21, 2008

My cousin Isabel and I visited the Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania last week and played some of the most amazing guitars I ever had the pleasure of handling. One was a 1929 Ditson dreadnought (that Jackson Browne had played a few days earlier) and the other was a 1942 D-45 purchased three months earlier for $270,000. I've posted some shots in my photo gallery. They were beautiful.

First Duo Gig - April 7, 2008

Steve and i played our first duo gig in Bethlehem, Pa. last Saturday night to a full house and it went really great. We played two and a half hours of originals, old blues classics and cool covers by Ry Cooder, Stones, Beatles etc...
It was a good warm-up session for the upcoming Europe tour. Steve played some incredible lap steel and really had the beauty and the terror going on when he strapped on that old stratocaster. Can't wait for the next gig.

The Big Apple - March 25, 2008

Heading in to New York City tomorrow to meet up with my brother Frank who is on his way to Thailand and my brother Jon who is up from Miami for a few days. This will be fun.

A Great Tour.... - March 19, 2008

I fly back to the east coast in the morning. The west coast tour was excellent from start to finish. The band was unbelievable, the management and road crew team were the best. I was blown away. Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead even came to the last show in Forestville. The shows can be downloaded at Steve and I recorded video with interviews and live songs at jambase in San Francisco today. They'll be up in a day or two I'm a very happy camper.

A Sad Note in San Francisco... - March 14, 2008

We lost our good buddy Martin Fierro yesterday. He hangs with angels and will be missed. Steve played with a vengeance at The Great American Music Hall last night.
I'm sure it was his way of letting Martin know that he was feeling the love. We're heading back there now for tonight's sold out show and we're gonna tear the roof off that place.
