Billy Goodman: NEWS

the language of heaven - February 12, 2011

God loves you. You're amazing. Watch Him heal through big Todd.

Ruby Tuesday - February 12, 2011

ok, that's it, enough is enough. I say Praise the Lord, it's high time to start a band. Ruby Tuesday will be the first song I play. Who's man enough to join me ?

Wednesday Lunch - January 19, 2011

I'm down at the chapel doing my usual Wednesday duties. We'll have lunch later on which is always fun. We got through the bad cold snap so I don't have to worry about falling on my butt every time I step out of the door. I've been picking up music students along the way and playing a lot of guitar lately. Mostly private sessions where we pray and worship the Lord. It's been powerful. He's full of power hehe. Wild ! I've been in touch with Dave Uosikkinen and Steve Kimock about doing some shows in America in the coming months. We're keeping our families lifted in prayer and enjoying the Lord in faith. A little money wouldn' kill me but as Norbert says, money comes and goes. The Word of God endures. Forever.

2011 - January 2, 2011

2011. Wow. It's hard to get my head around that one. If I knew I was gonna live this long I might have done a few things diferently. But here it is so praise the Lord and I for one am going to dive right in to the cold water and start swimming.
I'm wishing anyone who reads this huge blessings in 2011.

Week before Christmas - December 17, 2010

It's the week before Christmas. People are decorating the church. We'll have some cool fellowship, food and music in the next two weeks. I played for some friends at their home last night. I've been practicing a lot, keeping my hands strong and the Lord keeps my heart humbled. Not easy for an old rock and roller but It feels right deep inside. I read 1st Corinthians 13 this morning and am always amazed by this chapter. Jesus makes no easy terms on those who desire to follow Him. Who else is worthy ?
Praise the Lord. He's good, merciful and full of surprises.

Snow - December 1, 2010

Very cold. Winter is here again and with a vengeance. We've collected lots of new gloves, scarves and hats here at Calvary Chapel. There will be a meal for the homeless of Heidelberg here on Saturday at noon where we'll distribute the goods. Then I'm moving on to play some music at the Hope Ministry Christmas party. Here's some links.

Christmas Party - November 15, 2010

I'm back in Heidelberg from the states a week now. It's always a culture shock and can freak you out if you're not ready for it. Germany's not as friendly on the surface as the U.S. but you grow accustomed to it's steadiness. It's dark early and raining so that doesn't help much either. Luckily God don't never change as Blind Willie Johnson sings. Joe Lewis from Hope Ministry wants me to play a set for the homeless of Heidelberg on December 5th. It's a free lunch even if they say there is no such thing and you don't want to say no to Joe Lewis. He's got connections upstairs. Here's a link if you're want to attend.

Week Two - November 5, 2010

Things are winding down. What a trip it's been. Filled with signs and wonders. We'll catch a flight out Sunday afternoon and be in Frankfurt Monday morning. We're so grateful for all the heartfelt hospitality we received and the beautiful autumn weather. We both gained five pounds.
Chris met so many people, his head must be spinning. As always, it's great to visit the United States, a land I love dearly but also to return to Heidelberg, the medieval German city I call home.

Week One - October 28, 2010

Chris and I have been in the states one week today and it has been action packed. I've seen many old friends and have been treated wonderfully. The Lord is moving so powerfully. We had a beautiful day in NYC. Central Park, Greenwich Village, all my old stomping grounds. Then on to the land of Rocky Balboa, South Philly. Chris had his first cheesesteak at the famous Pat's steaks. Then on to legendary Levittown where we had several hoagies at Dale's Deli. We paid a visit to the home of Steve Kimock where we jammed on worship music with him and his remarkable son John. They, including Steve's wife Jen were so gracious. David Uosikkinen from the legendary Philly band The Hooters brought us backstage at the rock club Trocadero downtown so Chris could meet with other members of The Hooters, Badfinger, Grand Funk Railroad and The Allmann Brothers. What a night that was. I think Chris was a little stunned by the whole insider rock and roll scene. Since then we've been hanging out at Calvary Chapel Philadelphia with my old friend Rob Paoletti. He's been a pastor there for 25 years and leads the worship ministry. The service last night was amazing. I've never heard music like that ever. Not ever. Tears streamed down my face in the presence of God's glory. We'll hear Rob give a teaching tonight, filling in for a pastor in Germantown. There's just not enough hours in the day at the moment. We're thoroughly blessed.

America - October 20, 2010

The trip to Denmark was heavier than I expected. I mean it was off the hook. All the men left there having had a full-on encounter with the rocking one and only, water walking, tomb crashing, King of Kings and I don't mean Elvis. That said, my good pal and brother Chris Coote from Kent, England and I will be catching a flight to Philadelphia in the morning and should be eating hot dogs in Central Park, N.Y.C. on Friday afternoon which is supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees faranheit.

Denmark - October 11, 2010

I'm heading to Denmark this weekend for a mens retreat.
There's a link on this website that shows the facility on the Danish coast.
I think the Lord has something deep prepared for the little man. I'm excited.

September 28, 2010

praise the lord, o my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
praise the lord, o my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Autumn in Heidelberg - September 22, 2010

We just have the most beautiful autumn day on our hands here in Heidelberg. I'm going to go like thousands have before me and catch up on some reading down on the banks of the River Neckar. We had a big lunch at church like always on Wednesdays and it has left me feeling like I'm floating on air. Come praise Him with us. He is so worthy.

Heidelberg Gospel Festival - September 9, 2010

Hey Everybody, Hope to see you all at the Gospelfest in Heidelberg this Saturday, September 11th. Check out Joe Lewis and his wonderful ministry for the homeless of Heidelberg. Here's the address and info on Joe's ministry. Don't miss it !

August - August 5, 2010

Goofy August weather. Feels like April. Oh well. I'm in good spirits. I know the Lord has a lot in store so I'm happy to get on a new page. Let it roll.

Rainy Day - July 28, 2010

Got a rainy summer day here. I'm hanging at church (Calvary Chapel Heidelberg). It's nice and quiet here today and I brought my old guitar along. Just feeling blessed and grateful.

Dave and the Boys - July 16, 2010

Just came back from visiting the Hooters up in Aschaffenburg. They had a day off and then a show last night. I was able to have some great talks with the boys. These guys are cool and they play every concert like it's their last. It had to be well over a hundred degrees farenheit on that stage and they went full bore for two hours.

The Day After - July 8, 2010

Pretty calm in Heidelberg today. I thought there would be more weeping and wailing going on. I feel bad for the German team but my nerves are not as shot.

Soccer Madness - June 23, 2010

High anxiety in Germany today. We'll know at 10 tonight if they're still eligible to win the world cup.

Pfalz - June 10, 2010

I had a great gig in the Pfalz last week with Timo Gross. Norbert and I took the 64' Benz out for the first time in years. It ran like a dream once it got a taste of that new diesel fuel.
We took the autbahn for a while, then cruised through the mountains and forest to come upon this pristine valley. Then it semed the entire village of Pleisweiler turned out and we played into the wee hours.

Deep in the East - May 22, 2010

The festival in Plauen was really well put together. All the music was top shelf and he Malzhaus keller was the oldest structure in the city. Figure 900 years. I had never been to Plauen so for me it was a little time travel into former East Germany. I ended up playing both nights because I was having so much fun.

Deutschland - May 12, 2010

Back in Heidelberg. I love this town.
I got to go and play near the Czech Republic border this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing all the good old Deadheads in East Germany.

Lightfoot - May 3, 2010

I just walked past Gordon Lightfoot's former home in the Rosedale section of Toronto. It' a great old mansion built a hundred years ago. Knowing that he wrote and honed the majority of his mighty catalogue within those four walls made an old folkie stop and gawk.

Sunday in Toronto - May 1, 2010

The filming is complete and the cast and crew party was a big success largely in part to the kitgut stringband who picked on banjos and fiddles throughout the night. Toronto has really taken us all by surprise at how cool it is. It has got to be the most laid back major city I've ever visited.

Toronto - April 24, 2010

Just like i said, he i am in Toronto, Canada. Beautiful town, beautiful weather, a little jet-lagged but suited up and ready to go. It's great to see my two brothers. They left for the shoot early this morning but I'll join them tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll catch up on some work and play the old Gibson acoustic in some of these beautiful fully wooden rooms in this old mansion.
